Site update

I’m posting to let every visitor know just what’s up — and why we haven’t updated is so long.

Essentially, I am working on a total update of the site, both behind the scenes (as in the structure of the website) and the look and feel of the website (whole new web design! Yes!) Initially this process was supposed to take a few months, but as I’m relying on the expertise of a good many friends (who, like me, all have full-time day jobs), and there have been a few snags along the way.

The good news is, though, that we’re getting a lot closer to being done, and in the end this place will be a million times easier to update (and hopefully a million times cooler looking!) We’re also working on a blitz of new reviews for kids comics for Sidekicks (because, happily, so much great stuff is coming out now!).

Until then, please check out our continuing manga reviews for teens updated monthly at Teenreads.com.

Also, if there’s anything you’d especially like to see here at th site, in terms of content, let me know in the comments!

Mocking comics…

James Lileks, the mad genius behind two of my favorite coffee table books, The Gallery of Regrettable Food and Interior Descecrators, is now providing snide commentary on bad comics.

Yay!

Mangaland moment of the week

Reading Demon Flowers by Mizuki Hakase (who’s Demon Ororon is creepy, emotional, romantic, and incredibly stylish art-wise):
“Ushitora beats me at whatever we do. Chess. Cooking. Cross-dressing.”

Bwa ha ha!

This is why mangaland is so much oddball fun.
